| This law concerns the "hosting" of gatherings where minors have access to alcohol. |
| (a) Definitions. |
| |
"Alcoholic Liquor" shall be defined pursuant to section 30-1(3) of the Connecticut General Statutes. |
| |
"Host" shall mean to organize a gathering of two (2) or more persons or to allow the premises under one's control to be used with one's knowledge for a gathering of two (2) or more persons for personal, social, or business interaction. |

"Minor" a person under the age of twenty-one (21). |
| (b) Possession |
| |
No person under the age of twenty-one (21) shall be in possession of or in control of, any container of alcoholic liquor, whether open, unopened or closed, within the Town of Newtown except when accompanied by or in the presence of his or her parent, guardian or spouse who has attained the age of twenty-one (21) years. This restriction shall apply to both public and private property. |
| (c) Hosting Events |
| |
No person shall host an event which allows the consumption or dispensing of alcoholic liquor to or by a minor or minors unless said minor or minors are accompanied by or in the presence of his or her parent, guardian or spouse who has attained the age of twenty-one (21) years. The prohibition shall apply to any event or gathering within the Town of Newtown, whether conducted on public or private property. |
| (d) Penalties |

Any person violating any provision of this act shall be subject to a fine of ninety dollars ($90.00), pursuant to the Town of Newtown and General Statutes, Section 51-164p. |

| Procuring liquor by person forbidden to purchase or by false statement, public possession of liquor by minors prohibited. Exceptions. |
| (a) Attempts to purchase liquor by a minor |
| |
Any person to whom the sale of alcoholic liquor is by law forbidden who purchases or attempts to purchase such liquor or who makes any false statement for the purpose of procuring such liquor shall be fined not less than two hundred nor more than five hundred dollars. |
| (b) Possession |
| |
Any minor who possesses any alcoholic liquor on any street or highway or in any public place or place open to the public, including any club which is open to the public, shall be fined not less than two hundred nor more than five hundred dollars.
The provisions of this subsection shall not apply to
(1) a person over age eighteen who is an employee or permit holder under section 30-90a and who possesses alcoholic liquor in the course of his employment or business.
(2) a minor who possesses alcoholic liquor on the order of a practicing physician, or
(3) a minor who possesses alcoholic liquor while accompanied by a parent, guardian or spouse, who has attained the age of twenty one.
